2015 IN REVIEW: MY NEW APPROACH

There is certainly nothing new about taking retrospective stock of a year gone by.  I admit, though, that I am not usually very formal about it, and certainly not quantitative.  This year, let me attempt to capture my 2015 with some numbers that I find meaningful.
  • 1 birthday, 1 anniversary, and 1 cycle of secular and religious holidays.
  • 1 week of vacation with my wife, and 1 weekend vacation with my grown son.
  • 1 blog started. This is post #25.  Percentage written around 3:00-4:00 a.m.?  Probably 50.
  • 3 close relatives had a total of 6 surgeries.  1 formal, public declaration of appreciation to everyone who assisted us after these surgeries.
  • 2 sick days.  365 days of gratitude for waking up with all my parts working.
  • 10 speaking engagements.
  • 15 life lessons learned from friends, family, or patients.  Percentage learned the hard way?  I’m not saying!
  • 25 URLs purchased.
  • 45 “one-on-ones” over breakfast or lunch, and 50 networking group meetings, usually at 7:00 a.m.
  • 925 hours of psychotherapy or psychological consultation delivered.
  • Countless, and best of all: smiles, laughs, hugs, and knowing glances shared with my wife.

What are your key numbers?  How do you measure your growth?  Take some time over this holiday to think about it.  At holiday parties, ask your friends about their numbers.  Please share with us what you learn.

I wish you a 2016 filled with growing.
